Ruhee Singh is a member of the firm’s Regulatory Compliance practice group. Focused on a commitment to helping individuals and organizations meet and exceed their legal needs, Ruhee counsels clients navigating regulatory and compliance issues. From her experience in private practice and in-house serving a university’s health care system, Ruhee understands working with each client’s specific business operations and individual needs. She works with clients to manage claims and defenses to minimize risk and guide them through the process.

Healthcare Litigation Background
Ruhee’s litigation experience includes representing and advising healthcare entities and individual providers in complex litigation disputes in State and Federal court as well as in arbitration forums. She has briefed and successfully argued motions for summary judgment, argued substantive law and motion, and managed all aspects of trial preparation.

Regulatory Experience
Ruhee served as a Legal Fellow at the University of California, Davis Health Systems in a University of California, Office of the President Fellowship. She provided guidance on regulatory and compliance issues impacting the University including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Anti-Kickback Statute and Physician Self-Referral Laws, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines. She also counseled the University through hospital policy revisions, mandatory reporting law guidance, and medical and legal consent form review.

Before Nelson Hardiman
Prior to joining Nelson Hardiman, Ruhee was an associate with an AmLaw 100 firm, where she represented health care providers and facilities in complex disputes including medical malpractice, elder abuse, premises liability, and peer review proceedings.

Previously, Ruhee was a Health Care Division Legal Extern with the Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Competition in Washington, DC., where she gained experience investigating potentially anticompetitive conduct involving health care professionals, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals. She reviewed conduct including price-fixing, exclusive dealing, monopolization, and mergers in the health care industry.

Ruhee earned her law degree from the University of California, Davis – School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholar. She earned her B.A. in Economics and minor in Global Studies at UCLA.

Life Outside the Firm
Outside of the office, Ruhee enjoys reading novels, playing tennis, and attending concerts.
