December 1, 2015 – Nelson Hardiman LLP announced today that former partner Jay H. Paik has rejoined the firm as Of Counsel. Since 2013, Paik has served as General Counsel and Vice President of Business Operations at the Sports Concussion Institute (SCI) in Los Angeles, a leading provider of sports concussion assessment, treatment, and prevention services.
“Jay’s experience as an in-house counsel will benefit our clients who look to us to not only handle their legal needs but who require professionals who truly understand the business of healthcare,” says Nelson Hardiman Founding and Managing Partner Harry Nelson. “Jay is perfectly positioned to support our clients as they navigate the rapidly changing legal and regulatory environment impacting the healthcare industry.”
Mr. Paik was hired as a senior associate, and elevated to partner while at Nelson Hardiman (then known as Fenton Nelson LLP) from 2009 through 2013. Prior to that time, he practiced at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP and in the San Diego office of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, LLP. In his new role with Nelson Hardiman, Mr. Paik will again focus on corporate and transactional work, representing clients and projects in the field of sports neurology, as well as in Nelson Hardiman’s digital health practice.
“I am thrilled to be back with a team I know and trust,” says Mr. Paik. “Nelson Hardiman continues to build a healthcare practice that is quickly becoming an industry leader. I am confident my in-house experience will compliment its existing service offerings.”
Paik graduated in 2003 with a J.D. from the University of California School of Law, Davis. In 1997, he graduated with a B.S. from the University of California, San Diego and with a Masters of Public Health from Loma Linda University. He was admitted to the California and U.S. District Courts, Central District of California in 2003.
