The California Department of Aging (CDA) announced today that it is postponing the implementation of the requirement that Community Based Adult Services entities, formerly Adult Day Health Centers, convert to nonprofit status. CDA had required that as a condition of Medi-Cal payment, all CBAS had to be a nonprofit entity no later than July 1, 2012. The date for becoming a nonprofit is now January 1, 2013.
During the next six months, CDA will provide additional information on the exceptions from nonprofit status, how to apply for such exceptions and, hopefully, on the processing of licensure and change of ownership processing.
