Harry discusses the fundamentals of the opioid crisis, how it came to be and the tragedies it has caused. He provides an overview of the strategies on reaching a solution to the epidemic and methods of prevention and harm reduction.

In the US, we are 4% of the world’s population and we have 12% of the world’s opioid deaths, according to the UN. That’s a fixable problem. But the next layer of the problem is, “What do we do for all these people who need access to care?” And part of the challenge there is that we need more evidence-based care–we are seeing a big movement towards medication-assisted treatment, for example, buprenorphine–suboxone. The other part of the challenge is the social crisis–we aren’t going to fix that with government policy and regulation.”
