Regina Trainor joins the firm from NYU Langone Health, where she served as Vice President for Ambulatory Network Strategy and Associate General Counsel of one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers devoted to patient care, education, and research. Regina also previously served in a leadership role at the Catholic Medical Centers of Brooklyn and Queens, one of the first multi-hospital systems in New York, where she led the team that created Fidelis Care New York (Fidelis), New York’s first Medicaid managed care program, and served as its Chief Legal Officer/Corporate Compliance Officer for Fidelis. In her subsequent positions at Northwell Health and NYU, Regina innovated a model bundled payment program, developed system-wide clinical care initiatives, and facilitated receipt of a multi-million dollar federal grant to support physician quality improvement, cost reduction efforts in outpatient care settings. In her roles, Regina has worked extensively on healthcare operational issues, detection and response to provider fraud and abuse, physician practice acquisitions, and cutting-edge healthcare and life sciences initiatives and business ventures. “Regina’s leadership and superlative regulatory and transactional legal skill and experience, made her a compelling addition to our team. Christine Parkins Johnson joins Nelson Hardiman from the global firm of McDermott Will & Emery, where she counseled healthcare organizations on complex regulatory compliance and transactional issues. “We are thrilled with the wealth of experience that Christine brings advising different types of healthcare clients,” said Nelson Hardiman partner Stacie Neroni. “She brings great knowledge of the issues facing a wide range of providers, including health systems, hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, pharmacies, laboratories, skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, and behavioral health providers.” In addition to counseling clients, Christine also works with Nelson Hardiman clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations and dispositions of healthcare entities. She has particular experience with hospital and multi-state pharmacy changes in ownership. Christine also joins Nelson Hardiman attorney Larry Gill in working closely with private equity firms and real estate investment trusts (REITs) on health entity acquisitions and is particularly skilled at helping these companies understand and address regulatory challenges associated with contemplated acquisitions.
Jonathan Stieglitz brings to Nelson Hardiman his practice focusing on recovering under-or unreimbursed medical claims, representing parties including hospital systems, surgery centers, physicians and related healthcare practitioners and facilities. “Jonathan adds a new dimension to our reimbursement practice,” said Nelson Hardiman Litigation Group co-chair John Mills. “We are excited to add someone so well-versed in claims reimbursement, medical compliance, and ERISA.” Jonathan also brings a strong knowledge of healthcare finance to strengthen the bargaining power of hospitals, surgery centers, and other medical providers, and works closely with insurers and other payers on reimbursement challenges.
